Auction catalogue of the first I.M. Chait Natural History Auction which was held simultaneously in both Beverly Hills and New York City.
The I.M. Chait Gallery has been selected to auction an extremely fine collection of Green River Wyoming fossils to fund a new Natural History Museum in Western Wyoming. Profits from the first 32 lots of this sale will be donated to this museum project, scheduled to break ground in Spring 2008. Notable fossils from this collection include: a rare and exquisite fossil Palm Frond measuring over 45 inches wide (Lot #30); a magnificent fossil Paddlefish complete with preserved skin impressions (Lot #24); and an extremely rare fossil Turtle (Lot # 29).
This auction also features several important mineral, fossil and meteorite specimens from many famous collections such as The Ed Francis Collection of Ohio (Lots #211 – 219); The Chris Nicholson Collection of New Jersey (Lot #71); The Rox Arcana Gallery Collection of California (Lots #33 – 67); The Martin Zinn Collection of Colorado (Lot #101); The Edward David Collection of New Jersey (Lot # 94); The Macovich Collection of New York (Lots #202, 203 & 207); and the George Lee Collection of California (Lot #287).
